Question How to lock doors with out damage?

I have to lock a ton of doors in my house before I can even think about passing inspection. One of the doors goes to my boiler room. We heat the house with a gas boiler. It is dangerous to have the door locked with a key and not be able to access the room quickly. We were going to put a flip over lock on the door frame, then it would only be 2 screws. But, when we tried to just hold it up there, the door won't close. The woodwork in my house is nearly 60 years old. I hate messing up original woodwork like that. I don't know what else to do to lock that door so that it's super fast to open again if necessary. My hubby suggested an eye hook, but then, we'd have to put a screw hole in an original door. Got any ideas?

Do you have to lock the doors? For areas of the house we want closed off, we bought these baby-proofing doornob covers. They work great. Of course, our kids are young so it would depend on the ages of the kids you have, but the nob covers we're enough for our inspection.

Blessings,
Jenny

We use them, too, and they do work great...sometimes too great!

I checked out your Blog, Jill

Love that you are keeping an internet diary, that is so cool. I should do that, I've been told I should write a book, too.....LOL

I finally found my "blue bible" which is the entire book of laws regarding foster care. I'm highlighting everything that I need to know and may ever want to refer to, and making special notes about things that I need to find again. The book is written rather small, on half sheets or whatever, like 8.5x11 turned side ways. My hubby can't read it that way, the print is too small.

So, I'll find out in there if a toddler handle is ok or if something else actually has to be done.

I've also asked for a different licensor. The one we have, frankly, scares me. I don't trust her one tiny little bit. She's lied to me so many times (or maybe just changed her story? But shouldn't her story always stay the same?) Plus, she really doesn't seem to know what she's doing. I told the supervisor today that if we don't get a different licensor and are just stuck with this same gal, we'd just probably not go on to get our license. This process is so frustrating, made triply so by this licensor, who should be making it as smooth as she possibly can within reason..... Sorry, I'm venting again....
