Thanks for the info! Was wondering, do you have a check list of all the safety items you have had to do? (I had not heard of the ladder before) I was hoping to have something to work off of before our first home study, instead of them coming in and then telling us everything we need to do. I was hoping to be a little better prepared. Thanks much! Stacie

weird how different places have different rules. Here, an extinguisher is recomended but not required.

You could try home depot or maybe ordering online?

Lowe's & Home Depot both have fire extinguishers & fire ladders.
We did not have to buy the fire extinguisher, though - our local DHR office had some donated which they gave out during the meetings.

Thanks everyone!!!

Stacie, I just got a verbal list from My Mapp teacher, Here in NC we have to have a fire exstinguisher upstairs (If You have 2 story) which we do and downstairs, and they have to be mounted on the wall, also we have to have the fire exscape ladder, same thing, since we have a 2 story house, we are supposed to be recieving our licensing packet next week, as we have completed our Mapp classes and passed our fingerprint and background checks

Hi MSPOPPY, I was going to say, we live in NC. We have a 2 story home and had to have a larger F.E. downstairs where the kitchen is and a smaller one upstairs. For the ladder we had to have one when we lived in our other house that only had one way downstairs but we have 2 sets of stairs in this house, so no ladder was needed. We also got our F.E. at home depot.

Jeannette,

Just popping in to congratulate you on finishing your MAPP classes and sending hopes that the homestudy process is quick and painless. Sounds like you're well on your way!

Best of luck,
Cobb

I just bought a 5 pound FE at Walmart a week ago. They only had 2 sizes and the other was (I think) 2 pounds. The one I bought exceeds the state requirements.
