Red face Waiting - How do you keep busy?

Well, there are a few of us waiting on placements or licensing to go through. I thought it might be nice to start a thread for all of us in waiting to chit chat.

So, I scrapbook and am looking at several rummage sales to decorate our nursery for two babies, just in case the cw calls with two instead of one. I will not be able to say no.

I also work and keep up the apartment, so I am not totally bored.

What do you do?

I went Goodwill shopping for furniture. I also worked on a book I was making our son. It was a "forever family for A" written by me. It was written in the voice of a stuffed animal (In our case, Wally the Walrus). I took a lot of photos while I was waiting. They were of Wally: At the elementary school. Baking brownies with me. Coloring with my husband, sitting with the cats. Wally is in every photo in the book. When we finally met A, we gave him Wally as a present (He'd already seen the book). Anyhow, taking the photos and shopping made me feel like I was doing SOMETHING. Which made me calmer than sitting and waiting for the call.

To pass the time, well I spend as much time as possible with our horses Sunshine and Charlie. If I can't get out to them (she's borded at my brother's 15 miles away) I read. I love the fact that I live 3 blocks from the library!!! I go there tons! I love to read!!! I am not much of a sleeper (4 hours a night) so I have lots of hours in the night to read. So I do just that. I get to the library at least 3 times a week.

Thumbs up Out of college for the summer!!!

Since I am out of college for the summer, I work 40 hours a week and then spend my free hours doing house work and my hobbies. Right now one hobby is working on the baby nursery. I want to make it neutral for boys and girls. We found so many nice things a rummage sales in the past two weekends. I am taking nice things from my family members back in Illinois. I am just so excited.

I finally put four pages in my scrapbook in the past two evenings that dated back to Christmas 04'. I was getting behing because of school.

Anyway, I had all the pages and themes with pictures organized in baggies so that I would not forget what I wanted to do so it is easy to throw together.

Talk to you all later!

When the call does come, I'll be coming home to be a stay-at-home mommey! So for the time being, I'm still working...and we are using the money to work toward our goal of paying off our house. We are also working on fixing up the downstairs portion, so that keeps us busy as well.

Wink Waiting too!!

Hi!! Because I have 3 bio daughters and one of my husband's niece living with us this semester, I'm really busy with two 8 y.o, one 5 y.o and one 4 y.o. But deep in my heart and mind, i just want the phone rings with our future foster-adopt son. My husband told me not buy anything yet, and everytime I go to shop, I try to go to baby's area and look for clothes, decorations...
this wait is killing me, but I try to not show to the kids, they are so excited too. At the end I'm just follow the same routine while I wait for the call. Anyway I doesn't have any family or friends, with who I can talk about my anxious wait. They don't understand our feelings to adopt a kid, because we already have 3. The only one I can talk is my dear husband and I will like to have some friends in this forum too. By the way my name is Noris, I'm native of Puerto Rico but living in Iowa and we are waiting too...

LEXIELYN - Sounds great! I want to be a stay at home mommy, but my husband and I would not have enough income to support our bills. May be some day. He wants me to be able to stay at home and have our own kids and foster kids. I am only 26, so I have time. In the mean time I am going to finish up college like I have to work a career, just in case the plan does not happen.

I totally understand what you are going through, but in my case I have given in on several things and now my husband is just leaving me alone. I have decorated the nursery for a boy or girl and went to rummage sales only to stumble upon some great finds. I got a great crib for $30. I found several other things too. He just decided to let me enjoy my hobby because it keeps my mind of the time we will have to wait until our first placement comes.

Smile Good Morning!!

Another week began and today I'm thinking
maybe today I will receive the CALL, hahahahaha

I read that some of you call your case worker sometimes to say hi and remind that you're available. In our case I don't know to whom I can call. Because the lady that did our homestudy, she told us that after she sent the homestudy, any caseworker can call, that depends to which caseworker is working the new placement
cases. Can I do something? or just wait...

Thanks and have a nice day

Noris

Pride Classes

Well, this weekend I was busy. My hubby and I went to our first Pride Classes. We are taking the condensed classes to get it all out of the way this month. We have through chapter three complete.

Next Saturday is 4-6. I hear that chapter four is emotional and some people get choked up about it

I kept busy yesterday filling out paperwork. They gave it to us after the day ended. I filled out most of it already. I guess we want to get it done and turned in by Wednesday to get the process moving. Who knows, we could be licensed in just two and a half months. Yeah!!!!

Smile Gracias Karen!!

Sometimes I really need somebody who understand my feelings. For how long are you waiting? We were approved May 1st, but we began with the orientation last November ( 6 months now ), but when I read that after been approved, then the real wait begins, that put me nervous, . I believe that God will choose us for a boy, just if He wants. We did everything that we can do and now we need to wait. What about you? How old are your sons? How you deal with the wait?

Thanks again and good evening !

Noris
