alot of confusion with paperwork
Today was hectic with the new foster children(got them fri night). The 2 year old that takes meds for a liver problem began getting sick. This morning he was just tired but no fever then as the day went on a fever was starting .I called cw no call back. Then when I got in touch at 3the fever was 102 well she had to make phone call to get releases & I was getting very nervous.I was not told what condition he had so I could not even give him a tylenol, then dh said lets just go to er ourselves we called the cw & left a message,& off we went.Every one was so nice at the er as I explained I have no Idea if he was allergic to anything I had to fight back tears of complete helplessness.I told the nurse I cannot sign any consent forms & I know nothing except I have a sick child and we need help.Well the Dr called & got all the info the cw could not get (they never returned her calls. Its like they just blew her off but, get another dr to call & he got so much info)We even found out what he has & it is not as bad as we feared(although its kinda bad).Thankfully I did not give tylenol cause he needs Ibprofin instead. I am hoping this confusion is simply because court hearing was this morning & gramaw signed the release so things have not been put into place yet

Hi {{cb}} you and your dh did a great job by taking him to the er. If you have a medically fragile child placed with you they MUST give you the details of the illness! It infuriated me that they don't all the time.
We had a little girl with us for over a month and towards the end of their placement with us her sister happens to mention that T is allergic to bee stings OMG, our back deck is like a wasp hotel most days! I called her worker and her worker's supervisor and threw a huge fit. I had been asking for their medical passports for the entire time there were with us!I'm glad you finally know the illness. Now you can research it yourself to learn all you can about it. Michelle

yeah it surprises me that the sw don't automatically tell u what allergies they have. Our 1st placement we didn't even ask, I had to ask fs. W the newest addition, 15mth we asked. I would think that is the most important thing to tell us. Another thing that drives me nuts, is they expect us to know things and we have to tell them we r new at this. Sheesh!!
