It is a long process and different states do it different ways. I am in PA and recently they changed some lawas and we had to have TB tests out of the blue....I don't think there will ever be an end to the govm't updating requirements...but if you are done your classes and have all your paperwork you can be licensed and then you simply keep your license current by filling our paperwork whenever they request it.
Not sure why you wouldn't be licensed yet if you feel you have met all of the requirements.
Our CW gave us a check list/time line that described in detail all the steps it would take...we have been "in the porcess" since last December and are just now looking forward to maybe having children for Christmas.

My partner and I have been foster parents for 2 1/2 yrs now. We started classes on January 7, 2002 and got our license approved and our 1st placement on June 7, 2002. We are in GA but the process seems to vary by town never mind state. When did you start classes? How long ago did you get started? I know that it seems like it takes forever but when that child gets there all the never ending waiting will have been worth it. Good luck and keep us posted.
