Hi! New and have a few questions!

Hi all. I am thinking about becoming a foster parent and have just sent for the information. I'm not getting into this with the intentions of adopting. If that possibility were to come my way though, I'd probably go for it.
What I would like to know, and I'll try to make myself clear, is this........If a baby comes into my home and is later cleared for adoption, would I be automatically able to adopt the child if I decided to? If so, is it a very expensive process? Or is it free through the state? Thank you so much in advance.

The cost is free..or nearly free depending on what state you live in.

Most of the time if the child comes up for adoption they will automatically ask you first....since the child has already formed a bond with you. However, in some cases they may find it in the best interest of the child to be moved to a new adoptive home for one reason or another. It really goes case by case. In most cases a child may be in fostercare up to 2 years before coming adoptable.

Fostering is a wonderful experience, I hope you enjoy it.

Hi,

Yes, you would be given the choice to adopt as long as no other family member comes forward wanting to adopt the baby. They would have to have a homestudy done, however, it's much less than what you will go through to become a foster parent.

The cost will be very little if anything to adopt through the foster care system.

Good luck on becoming a foster parent. There is a huge need.
