single male f/p

I been reading this forum and have learned ALOT. but there are a few post that got me thinking ( very scary thogth) lol

i am a 35 y old single male. i work with children and i am a beaver leader for scouts. i want to take in boys 2-about 6. but i been reading and it says that males should NEVER be along with foster kids. then i read that single males can also be foster parents. do they mean males can only take in the older ones?
any other single males that has any info
thanks

Cool

I am also a 25 y/o single male from MI, about to be licensed for fostering. I am accepting boys ages 5 - 10. My agency wants me to take younger and older, but since I am just starting out, I prefer ages 5 - 10. I have one bio son, age 12.

As far as I know, the only males that cannont be alone with foster kids are convicted felons, child preditors, or any adult that the agency doesn't know about.

They can't discriminate against, age, race, gender, or religion.

That is the case in MI.

Even gay and lesbian couples can foster. In fact, there was a gay couple in my fostering class.

I have seen somewhere on the web (I don't remember what state) that in order to adopt, you have to be a single female or married couple!!?!!

It didn't say anything about fostering.

Agencies should not discriminate!!! Those kids need us!!!

garry

P.S. Where are you in the fostering process??

male fp

I am in florida and My DH and I are a big part in our Foster Parent Association. Just to let you know. We have four single male Foster parents in our district. They only can take in Males however they got to choose the age range. I see nothing wrong with it and encourage you to become a foster dad.
