Re: Foster Parent (Special Need definition)

This is an area that irritates me to no end. Why can't people parent a needy child that has a disability? Who is going to care for these children? "Educated" adults make the comments that they are unable to take care of a child with disabilities etc... How do they know something won't happen to their precious "perfect" "natural" children that might render them much more disabled. God forbid!! And before you ask, I have adopted two disabled children. No I have not fostered. I new I wanted these type children as my own and approached this endevor head own by adopting. We could not have asked for more perfect children. All aparents should be so lucky!! Oh yeah, and for those that say we are good people, have big hearts, have more courage than they do, it takes a strong person to do that. We consider ourselves fortunate to have these wonderful children. After all if we do what God expects us to do we should not have to think twice about taking care of the children. No matter what their conditions!!!!

They do bicker a lot, fuss and quibble over small matters, have jealousy amongst themselves, have poor self-esteem, 2 are in special education resource, and they demand lots of hugs, kisses, and affection. So special needs isn't always a bad thing.
