Are you talking about the training classes to become certified as a Foster Family? If so these classes and the times they are held and the amount of time you need to attend can vary depending on your state and often even the county you live in.

The best resource for this answer would be your Foster Parent caseworkers--or the county office...perhaps even the trainers or teachers of the class would be able to tell you the requirements of your state and county.

We were trained in Texas and our classes took 5 weeks because we went twice a week. The training is so necessary even though we have been parents for 17 years. Foster children have their own set of issues and it is imperative as a foster parent that you know how to help. You also MUST know the laws regarding foster care as you are liable for what happens in your home to other people's children.

The classes were long and I didn't love every single one of them. However, education is so important on something this crucial.

Good luck!
