Question What is the process of joining a second agency?

Once I get my license a couple of months hopefully, how much is involved in joining a new agency? Is there anything that has to be repeated? I know each agency is different but I want to know different experiences, from easiest to hardest. Please share. Thanks

Are you asking about being licenced for foster care through two different agencies at the same time? Where I live, you can't do that. We're exclusively linked with one agency. We can change, but can't work with two at once.

(Does that count as "easiest" because it was written in the orientation FAQ so I didn't even have to research it, or "hardest" because it would be working to make the impossible happen? *grin*)

Most Social Workers will have you redo the Homestudy

This depends on the agency, but most Social Workers will have you either redo the Homestudy to cover them. Also purchase the Homestudy.

Your explaination of why you are switching or changing Agencies will be indepthly questioned also!

Usually all Agencies are about the same in communication, placement, and services!

Well in NYC can join two or more agencies

Like they even told me at the agency that the more agencies you join the more calls you get. A neighbor of mine works for ACS and she tells me to join her agency after I get my license. I was just wondering the procedure. Thanks for all the replies.

In my state (MI), too, you can only foster for one agency. You can switch agencies as long as you don't have any foster children (agencies don't like to "share beds"), but each agency has its own requirements and decides which training will transfer & which you'll have to repeat. Also, each agency has different requirements about how much training foster parents need each year to maintain their licenses.
