I have been waiting two or three months for a class. Now me and my husband will be starting next week. Now I feel like things is moving along. Is it all downhill from here? I have everything ready, just waiting for my baby.

How long did it take for them to find you MAPP classes that meet your schedule?

Did they tell you that they definitely have babies the age you want? I was told by my worker that they do get babies, but then ACS said that it was very rare, most of the children were school aged, and the babies usually came with older siblings. What agency in NYC are you working with? Did you ever decide to do more than one agency?

Its funny you asked that because my agency kept telling me that there are no classes in the near future. After inquireing several times, I did my own MAPP training hunt. I called (212) 371-1000 ask for Will Berry and let him know that you have been waiting very long for a mapp training to open up. Maybe he will be able to find you a class. Then you will get a referral to go to this traing but you will still be handing in your paperwork to your agency and your agency will be doing the home visits. Also I am doing all the calling and researching and staying on everyone. If you don't who knows how long you could be waiting. They did not even tell me that I had more paperwork to hand in before I could get a home visit. I called and asked when will someone be coming out to my home and then I was told about the missing paperwork. Once I turned it in the initial database check that they do came back I was assigned a case worker. I went yesterday to get fingerprinted and now she will be calling next week to set up an appointment to come out for her home visit the first week of february. If you want to get this moving and have your baby by summer, than make these calls let them get to know your name. Everyday until you start mapp training you should have a call to make. Then find out about your paper work who has it and who to get it to. But this is only if you are going to get a MAPP training somewhere other than your agency. I'm determined! I think you are too.
