Foster Children an Childcare
This message was originally posted by PAmom.
Hello everyone! I am pretty new to the boards and have a lot of questions. Most are answered through reading of the posts ![]() Last Saturday I had my first interview with a lady from the agency that I have chosen. I really liked her and what she had to say about the agency and how much support they give you. (I hope she wasn't just giving me a line) Anyway I was wondering if I would be able to get help with paying for childcare when I do foster. I have one biological daughter who is seven and she attends a before and afterschool program that is quite costly. I'm a single parent so the need for childcare is great. Do you guys think I could get any type of assistance with this? I live in PA. Thanks for your help! |

In Michigan you can go to the F I A office and they open a case for you . Our day care takes what ever F I A pays.

Most states assist with child care. Have you ever gone to the welfare office to see if you qualify for child care assistance with your child?

Really? No, I've never gone to the Welfare office in my hometown. I wasn't aware that they offered assistance with childcare. I'm really glad that I stumbled accross this board. I will look in the phone book and contact the office immediately! Thanks guys! ![]() |

You should check child care partnerships, they should be in the yellow pages. You may be able to get subsidized chilcare for both children. I am in Pittsburgh, pa |

rtc-where in MI are you?

I'm in MI, too -- Waterford. What day care are you using that accepts what the FIA pays? I use Kindercare, & I have to pay $66/week co-pay for what's not covered. But, I LOVE the center, they love my fs, and the director's been nothing but helpful & supportive. |

We are from the lapeer area.We send our fs to racals resort,it off Dryden road and m-24.It's a very good day care ,he got kicked out of the first one after 1-week. But he really likes this one, they say he is very well behaved there. |

In Sacramento California they have programs but because of the budget there are "no funds available". I have been a foster parent for 2 years now and I pay all of the daycare expense. This uses most of the money the child receives and everthing else comes out of my pocket. I wish there was more help for these kids for daycare because I think daycare is good for them socially also. I work 4 days a week and I love the preschool my foster son attends. His speech has come a long way since he is with other kids all day. |
