Hi! I just came across this website & was thrilled! I've been thinking about becomming a foster parent off and on for several years now & am hoping you can help me with some insight on the issue that has been holding me back. I'm a single mom of an 8 year old & work full time. Do other single foster parents work? What about child care or before & after school care? I don't mind the expense as much as I worry about the time while I would be at work.... my son is a strong & healthy child, physically & emotionally so he handles my work as part of life. But how do kids with greater needs handle being in child care & is it even allowed?

Yes, you can work and be a foster parent. I am also a single working woman (no kids). I have received my training and plan to start fostering in September. I am also worried about the impact my working will have on my foster children. Please email me if you would like to talk further.
