Talking Soon to be licensed

Hello everyone! I have been lurking for about 6 months.
This month, my husband and I will be a licensed foster parent and am waiting for a call for children ages 0-4. Our max. limit
is two children. We will also be licensed as a foster to
adopt parents. We are excited that we will be parents in the near future.

My husband and I are going to check into foster parenting. What's it like to go through the classes? We also hope to adopt through fostering. Congrats on your new world!

The classes were very eye-opening and
very practical and useful. We had 10 classes
once a week and had separate classes
for CPR and first aid. I am glad that the
homestudy is finished and am just waiting
for the license to come in the mail

I'm so happy for you. I'm sure you and your husband will be very blessed! I have just one more question. (sorry) What do they do for the home study?

They come out to your home and check your
home for safety concerns, check how many
bedrooms you have, ask you a lot of personal
questions invididually and together, discuss what
kinds of children that you will accept in your home, etc.
We had three homestudy visits because it is just
my husband and I. Each child will be interviewed also
to see if they like the idea of having foster children
in the home.

welcome to the world of foster parenting. i have been a foster parent for 4 years. currently i have a 2 y/o and 1y/o. they are my 3rd and 4 th placements. i had a 9mo for a couple of weeks, then i had a 4 mo til she was 13 months. then i got a 3 months old who i am currently in the process of adopting. the day after he turned 2 his 1/2 sister came to live with us and we are in the process of reunification with her bparents. if you have any questions, i would love to try to answer them. at times this is the most frustrating thing i have ever done but the benefits always outweigh the frustration. good luck to you both
