we were advised to have a list of ???'s we would like to know when placement calls. Do you all have any suggestions.

so far we have

Age of child
race of child
formula or regular milk
siblings
caseworker name
caseworker phone number


any suggestions would be helpful

Are you doing foster, or fost/adopt? (And are you Jody, the guide from About.com?)


Here are some more things to ask:

Are there visitations with parents? How many per week? Has a schedule been established? Where will visits take place and who will supervise them? (Sometimes visits are in jail.....I hate that.)

What kinds of physical, occupational, or psychological therapy is in progress? HOw many appointments per week? (Start adding up all these appointments, and figure out if you want to be spending that much time....)

Who transports to visits or therapy, you or the sw?

Does the child have a permanency plan in place? Is the goal adoption or reunification?

What brought the child into placement? Is this his or her first placement? Can you speak with previous foster parents?

What are the child's major behavioral issues?

Are there relatives asking for homestudies?
