fost/adopt

Hi guys,
My husband and I started the adoption process in February. We had no intentions of doing fost/adopt. In March our caseworker called and said that they had a seven month old boy that needed to be moved from his foster home because his foster mother was having surgery and they wanted him placed in a permanent home so that if termination occured he didn't have to be moved again. We agreed.
We attached to him instantly. BUT we had to take him twice a week to social services for visits with his birth mother. (She was not relinquishing him. He was being taken because she abused him) It was so hard because even though he was only 7 months old and had been away from her since he was four days old, he would scream every time he saw her.
FINALLY, on June 9, the judge suspended visits and has set termination for September 10. We are counting the days, literally, until it is all over. It is extremely nervewracking and we want to do it again, however, we won't do another legal risk child. There are enough sleepless nights with babies, we didn't need any more worrying about whether social services was going to come and take him away from us.
He will be a year old next Friday. He's been worth every sleepless night!
Good luck, ladies.
