Where are the other's?

Hi !My name is Michelle and I have 4 bio children, ages 13, boy, 10 boy, 7 boy, and 6 girl. We are in the process of taking GA's IMPACT classes now. We are wanting to do either straight state adoption or else foster adopt (legal risk placements). We would like to adopt once...but we want a sibling group. We had said we were only interested in 3 more, however, if we were approved for more we would be open to that as well.

I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mom, and my husband is an assistant Pastor/children's Pastor at our small SBC. We've been married 14 years, this month!

We've already dealt with people who say things like, "You've already got 4...what do you need more for??!!" Has anyone out there dealt with comments like these?

I'd love to talk to others about their adoption journey!

Blessings,
Michelle

I have no children so I haven't heard any comments like that, but I can be pretty sure my reply wouldn't be a real nice one and my husband's would be far worse! I want as large a family as I am able to financially care for. There is plenty of love to go around.

We have no children either... just our "fur babies" so everyone is extremely excited us. But are looking to foster as well as adopt so I can forsee people questioning if we don't already have enough.

We have 5, all are 6 years or younger and we get that question all the time, esspesially if we have any additionals (we take sib groups up to 3 kids as foster placements) with us. We will continue to foster and likely adopt again for many years to come (we are 32 and 26 years) and I can not see our life without children so who knows how many we will have by the time we are in our 40's.

When people make those comments, we tend to just say there is room in our hearts for as many children that need us.

Most people are just unable to imagine living a lifestyle other than thier own. For instance, can you imagine going through life with NO children at all and be satisfied? I have difficulty with that but I know people that are happily living that lifestyle.

We have 9 children, and 10 including our infant fs. We get alot of comments concerning the size of our family, we get asked are we ever going to be done, I can honestly say "I don't know, I never thought I would have 10, but I do. We also get the double whammy of questions because of our ages, I am 50 and my DH is 49, people are always telling us we aren't getting any younger, as if we don't know that. I say age is relative, I feel I am a very young 50, I'm thin and active and feel great. So who knows when we'll be done, but I figure when we are we'll know. Listen to your heart, not what people say.
