Oh my lord

My friend gave birth to a daughter like a few days ago. Her first child. Guess what she named her kid? She named her daughter Tinkerbell or well she named her Tinkerbella cause she added the "a" on the end. She was going to give her a normal name like Lisa or Sarah, but just out of nowhere she named her kid Tinkerbella. Its on the birth certificate. Then she said "When I have a son I will name is Peter Pan" God I hope she is joking. I mean I would never name my kids like that, but I still think its odd. Even considering I have a tinkerbell tattoo on my back lol. What do you guys think?

Look at all the famous people and their poor children's names.
I knew a guy in college who was from Somoa and his name was actually the F word. I knew someone who named their child Rebel and Felony (can you tell they had criminal records).

Angry Poor Baby!!!!

What a horrible thing to do to a baby!

But then I feel that way every time I see a child with a made up name or a common name spelled with 4 "y"s and a 'z' just one of my pet peeves lol

I also don't think you should name little boys things like Michelle(unless you are french and LIVING in France) or other equally feminine things...or using a little boys name for your daughter(there are PLENTY of great girls names...don't steal from the boys any more, we have already feminized too many traditional boys names as it is!!!)lol

Children should not be named after animals(zebra, penguin, hummingbird) unless they are NA and that is their NA name! OR FRUIT...NO child should be called "apple" "kiwi" or "tangerine" no matter what...EVER lol

I guess I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to names lol (and that's not all of them!!! LOL)

Shana, you're definitely not alone! Here are some horrible ones we know about:

Delmonte Zucchini (yes, straight off the can in the grocery store)

Lemonjello and Orangelo - taken from Jell-O boxes, pronounced (luh MON guh lo and uh RAHN guh lo)

so sad!

I just recently heard of a friend who named her son Messyah.

You got it. A starnge, dumb looking spelling of Messiah. Nice.

Wow! Parents are really streching to give their children unique names these days. I understand the desire but they need to think about how difficult it will be growing up with a name like that.

It is little things too....for me, my name is pretty but not very common growing up. I used to get upset at not being able to find things with my name on it. And now that it is more common, the spelling isn't so I still very rarely find things with my name on it....I buy it when I do.

Regards,
Brandy

Try finding something with Heidi on it- or my sister "Rebekah" if they have items the spelling is wrong.

Celebrities name their children the strangest names! Some of the most unusual in my opinion -
  • Courtney Cox's little girl is named Coco Riley Arquette. Coco?
  • Kim Bassinger's little girl is named Ireland
  • Gwenyth Paltrow and her husband's girl Apple and boy Moses.
  • Michael J. Fox's girls Aquinnah Kathleen, Schuyler Frances
  • Paula Yates' girls Fifi-Trixibelle, Peaches, Pixie
I want to name my child something simple. Something that also doesn't serve as the name for a fruit.

When we had our Bio children we didn't plan that they both had a "C" name. It just happened that way. When we adopted we had the name Rylie picked out for a girl. Our son, who was just barely 10 at the time said, "The baby will be black & adopted. It should have a "C" name like us so it doesn't ever feel left out" AWWWWWW!!!!! So, Rylie became Cylie (Kylie). Then we were stuck! LOL Along came Cirrah, which EVERYONE messes up! It's pronounced like Kira. Then we did the right spelling with Caleb! LOL But he got two middle names! LOL

I've met a Miracle. My niece's best friend growing up was Secret.

I do payroll for a living. The names that come across my desk are amazing. It's just crazy. I just don't understand why people would put their child through it.

There was a misspelling on the translation of my son's birth certificate. I stress to everyone, it's a translation, I can have someone else translate it and it would be correct.
