I like I guess "different" names for my children, I have three:
My oldest daughters name is Maddison Paige (which at the time 11 years ago was not as popular!) NOW Madison is the most popular name for 2005!

Son:Turner Ross, which my husband primarly picked, his name is fairly unique, which I like and everyone says that they have never met another Turner!

Daughter:Mackinley Lois-again I got my way with this name. Loved Mackenzie, but preferred Mackinley, which I found was different and unique, Lois is a family name.

I guess my thing is I don't want my child to be called by their first name last initial in school, my youngest has 3 Jacobs in her class, two have the last name that starts with "M", so they have to be called their full name all of the time, it is just a pet peave of mine!

Hopefully we are able to name our adoptive baby. We are doing Foster to Adopt:
For a boy:
Tyller Reis (I just think it "goes" with Turner Ross), we would probably keep a part of the birth name.

Macey, or Malley for a girl, partly because my other girls names start with "M" but recently I have also heard Ayden or Aidynn for a girl which I really like!

My son is Henry Roman David.

Roman was the name given to him by his birthmother and David is my father's name. I've always loved the name Henry. While it is gaining in popularity, we haven't met any other little boys named Henry yet.

My step daughters have unusually spelled first names. Their parents wanted to be unique.

Kaitlyn Marie and Eryn Renae. the only theing they don't like about it is they can never find anything with their names on it that are not specially made.

Our boys are Timothy Dwight and Dakota Thomas. Timothy is pretty traditional adn was his birth name, and Dwight was my father's name. Dakota is his birth name and Thomas is my husband's name.

I would say that at least one of each of the kids names are traditional with one also being unusual.

Our future daughter (we are currently in process) will have the name:

Zoe Mariana Silvia H.

Zoe - because it was one of only a handful of names we both like.

Mariana - is a combination of dh's sister's names, Mary and Diana, also, it incorporates her birth 1st name, which she shares with her birthmother, Ana. Also my grandmother's name was Mary, so that is a special part.

Silvia - this was birthmother's middle name. (I also just happen to love this name).

So really, her name is 1/2 from us, 1/2 from birthmother.

D.

We've always found it hard to agree on names My hubby likes more traditional names and I love unique names.

Our son is Timothy Scott (Scott family name)
Our daughter is Trinity Rebecca (Rebecca is her bmom's name)
Our son is Isaac Nicholas (Isaac means laughter and boy does that fit him...never a frown on his face....Nichole is his bmom's name)

We are in the process of adopting a little girl from China and we can't agree on anything. She will keep her Chinese name as her middle name and we will give her an american name. He wants something one-syllable.
These are on my list...
-Liberty (my absolute favorite but he said that's too many itities)
-Maya
-Ava
-Alonna
-America
-Freedom
-Asia
-Kiara
-Keelah
-Maggie (i just think it's so cute)

Any votes????

Homeschooling mommy to Timothy 8 (home-grown), Trinity 4 (domestic adoption miracle), Isaac 2 (domestic adoption miracle), & waiting for our little angel in China.

Hey y'all! Just wanted to say that I dig the names on here. Really, there's some pretty creative people on this site. It doesn't take a lot to come up with a unique name, but it sure taks a lot to come up with a unique name that sounds good. Every single name I've read in this forum is beautiful!
Anyway...
My boy (11) is named Shepard Ray Elliott
Shepard just 'cause I liked the name
Ray after my beloved grandfather
Elliott after my kids' father

My girl (also 11, they're twins) is named Shannon River
Shannon as a way to honor our 100% Irish background
River after my mother, whose middle name is also River

I have two boys, both adopted:

Shai = Hebrew, means Gift. I chose this name because I wanted him to know how precious he is to his parents every time he hears his name. This name is unisex, so it's also appropriate for girls. In Israel it's pronounced like the word shy, so in the US i would call him Shay.

Adam Yacov (my husband chose this name, he always liked the name Adam and Yacov is for his father, who was also the godfather)

Girls names I like:

Talya (or Talia) Tal = Dew, Ya = G-d,
Shiri = my song
Moriah = biblical location, it's considered an old-fashioned name in Israel.

However, it looks like the two boys are it for me.. They sure keep me busy.

My kids are

Nicolas Brent (Nicolas was his name when he came to us 2 1/2 and we thought he was to old to change it and Brent is my DH's brother)

Asher Kaiden (I loved Asher and my DH and Asher's tummy mommy loved it and she picked Kaiden and we all though it sounded good together).

I love unique names and can't wait to pick out a girl's name!
