We have a 7 wek old little girl that has been with us from the hosptial and we are adopting her and her brother(foster/adoption)
How soon is too soon to change her name? The bio mom named her after a country music singer of old and every one makes a comment about the name we want to call her Sophia Francesca(after dh grandmother)
I can live with her brothers name I would like to change it as well , but He is 15 months old.
I just want to do what is best for them.

I have only personal opinions...

Sophia Francesca is a beautiful name.

How soon to change it depends on if the biomom is in the picture or not. If she is, then it's a sensitivity issue. If she's not, then probably the sooner the better...as long as you are SURE the adoption is going to go through. It would suck for her to get yet another name later on.

If you can live with the brother's name, I'd keep it. 15 months seems old to be asking the kid to get a new identity. Besides, especially if biomom's not around anymore, it gives him something to hold onto from her.
