I think Isabella is beautiful. Kyra, Carly, and Bailey are also nice. For unique, how about Shaelyn or Shaylee. I know a Sage, which I think if cute, but probably two short to go with Grace. Good luck to you! There are always the state/city/country options...Dakota, Holland, Chyna. I like Cassandra also, "Cassie" for short or Anastasia, "Stacia" for short...pronounced "Stay-shuh". Arianna is another. There are so many pretty girl's names!
Good luck!

It's looking like my fd will be available for adoption and her caseworker, my certifier and my adoption worker have all asked me if I would be interested in adopting her. She turned one on 05/05/05 and is half Polynesian (very beautiful girl - dark hair and green eyes with olive skin).
If I do get to adopt her I am going to name her Allyn Ann. My father's middle name is Allen (traditional middle name for first born son) and my mom's is Ann. I will call her Aly for short. I also thought of Bailey Ann. Other names I love are: Kevindra Aileen Annanda Allen My cousin named his daughter Alyssa Ryan (Ryan is her middle name) Blessings, Lynda |

Aurora is a beautiful lilting name that is just the right shade of unusual and nice to be a good fit in my opinion. Just don't name a child who lives in Colorado Aurora, it's just too much of a suberb name.
I also really like Honor, Emery, Seren/Seran as unique but lovely names.

TCK"s or Third Culture Kids are difined as "[A] person who has spent a significant part of his or her developmental years outside the parents' culture. The third culture kid builds relationships to all of the cultures, while not having full ownership in any. Although elements from each culture are assimilated into the third culture kid's life experience, the sense of belonging is in relationship to others of the same background." How being a TCK relates to my desire to adopt some day: I grew up an international child, and while the walls between country and race mean less to me than most, I grew up with an understanding of the influence of clashing cultures that is hard to explain to someone who exists in solely one culture. God has given me the gift of experiences to fuel my desire for international adoption and to understand an internationally adopted child's world. |

My vbest friend named her daughter (whom she miscarried) Malani Kaylee - Malani was her cancer counselor.
Her son is named Josiah (I love that little boy!!) My daughter will be named Abigail Faith and son will be Zachery Harris (after both my grandfathers that I never knew) I had thought of Jordan Elizabeth for my cousin (I almost adopted in 02), now I won't use that name. I can't replace her. She is named Alliyah Mariah. We all call her Leah though. Another cousin named her baby Sky Jordan anyway, so I won't use Jordan ![]() I have another cousin who is due in Aug. Her daughter will be Brianna (pro Brie-Ann-ah) Danielle. Oh, and someone mentioned Aislin. I love that name. That is a character in a book I am writing. The full name is Aislin Nichole. Thanks for the name nerds page! I am certainly going there for ideas for my characters. I love behind the name for that too. |

Some of my favorite Girl's names:
Yael - this is abiblical name, pronounced Yah-El Yahli - G-d gave her to me Liliah - it sounds so graceful. Maya - one of the Muses in Greek Mythology Hila, which means Aura. That was the name I chose for my little girl, had she lived. |

Since the thread's been revived, I thought I'd chime in, but I'll supply a method, not names. These are all just my opinion - feel free to disagree.
Get a good baby name book or scrounge around on the internet. As much as I use the net, I like books better for this because you can carry them around. Go to the Social Security Administration web site and get the lists of popular names for the last few years. Ban anything that's in or derived from at least the top 30 names. Banning the top 50 would be even better. Ban all names of popular celebrities and fictional characters. In ten years, you're not going to want a daughter named after Britney or some other celeb making a fool of themselves, nor do you want your son or daughter to be one of the 38 million Harry, Ron, or Hermione's. Do not name your son Barack or your daughter Michelle. Every four or eight years, this bad idea rears its ugly head. Likewise, don't name your child after anyone heinous. I just read of a guy that named his son Adolph Hitler <whatever>. That's just wrong. If you're thinking of doing that, go visit Auschwitz first. People don't get to pick their own nicknames, so if you like Robert but hate Bob, move on. Watch those initials. I don't care how much you like the name Ashley Sarah, if your last name is Smith, your kid will hate you for it. Drop the cute spellings. Nobody wants to have to go through life spelling M-a-i-h-r-i-e every time they tell someone their name when Mary would work just as well. You're just making work for the kid that they'll have to keep doing as long as they live. Stop taking over boys names for girls, or eventually there's not going to be anything left for boys but Ichabod and Rupert. I want Sam and Taylor back for boys. Ashley too. Unless you're Frank Zappa (and he's dead, so you aren't), do not name a child "Moon Unit," "Dweezil" or anything else equally idiotic. Check those name meanings against at least a couple of sources so the poor kid doesn't grow up to learn that her name means "molester of farm animals." If you've adopted internationally or interracially, consider picking a name that represents the child's culture instead of yours. They're stuck living in your shallow, vapid culture, so they might as well get a name from something more interesting. Unless you're heir to a throne or a large fortune, three names should be more than sufficient. You're only Junior if the entire name is the same. If you are Billy Bob Goatmilker, and your father is Billy Joe Goatmilker, you are not Billy Jr., even if some people do use the suffix that way. Learn the rules. Along the same lines, the kid is stuck with you as a parent, so can't he at least have his own name and not be stuck with yours. Try to use a little creativity, please. If you're thinking of naming someone XYZ "the Third," please consult a friend with a modicum of originality for other ideas. There you have it, folks. Please feel free to rip on my rules or add your own. ![]()

ROFL! Good tips...but I'm sorry...you cannot have Ashley back as a boy's name. It's just better suited for a girl.
