Star Trek name

My father-in-law looks through his star trek book whenever this is a new baby on the way. He came up with the name Kamin for my nephew. It's from the episode when Jon-luke lives a full life on another planet with two kids and a wife. His son's name was Kamin.

My nephew has never been teased, no one else has the name, and people always want to know where it came from.

Hope this helps.

The woman we bought our house from had a cat named Data so it is hard to imagine that being a human name also. Kamin sounds good though. Good luck--just remember that you don't want it to be anything too weird. It is hard enough being a kid without that baggage. Using it as a midddle name is a good idea because then the child may elect which name to use later.

People who DO have Star Trek names

In the dorm that I lived in in college, there were two siblings:

James Kirk LASTNAME
Scott Montgomery LASTNAME

The Star Trek thing does actually happen (scary!)

Take care,

Noi

Personally, we love the name Jadzia, but decided against it to spare our future child teasing. We just love the way the name sounds. We did name the cat Dax and the dog Worf...

Re Star Trek names

Hello

I am a Star Trek fan since the late 80's . And I wanted to say that there are lots of names from the five different series. Jon-Luke is actually spelled Jean-Luc Picard, its French. But Jon-Luke for a boy is much better. Less teasing. Does any one know if the actor Jean-Claude Van_____(from the movie "KickBoxer") was teased as a child?

How this for a name Adrian. My entire name was changed:

Dwight Adrian Groppel to

Allen Leroy_________

Le

I don't know about "treky" names, but my son's middle name is Casper. Everyone asks like the ghost? Actually it was from a magazine article I read. They did an interview with a guy named Casper, although he did have a tatoo of the cartoon on his arm! My son loves it, and all his friends think it is "cool!" He does have a normal first name that he goes by, as middle names are reserved for the UhOhs!

Smile Star Trek Names

My husband named our daughter Jadzia, after Jadzia Dax from DS9.
He claims that it is a cross between 'Jade' (Beautiful stone) and 'Zia' (Wonderful gift).
It doesn't matter to me where the name comes from, it's a pretty name for a pretty girl.

Star Trek Names

We named our first daughter Ziyal (and it was a little more mom's idea). I have since learned it may actually be a Turkish name, but the biggest problem is other people's pronunciation of it.

Oh, and for those interested in Jadzia, babynames.com says it is a Polish name meaning princess. I think we will pass on it though (besides, the dog is Dax).

I may be interested in other ST names, but I do not think we will use our first idea for a boy--Kahless (klingon). Maybe we will move on to Harry Potter (Hermione or Hedwig, Hmmmm?).
