I had a friend named Stephen Trent Dunkin (went by Trent), and it was funny, because in 9th grade, I had him in my Bilogy class, and we were looking up definitions, and he came across his initials (STD) and he started shouting that his initials were in the text book. I had asked him what his initials were, and he told me. I told him to read the definition of what STD stood for, and his jaw dropped. He had never known what it was until that day, and even later on throughout high school, he still bragged that his initials were STD.

It's the honest-to-God truth!

I have an uncle who is a coal operator (more $$$ than God) in Eastern KY and his name is Maynard Hogg!!! Before getting into coal he was Letcher County Sheriff at one time!

My stepfather's sister teaches school and had a child named Abcde, pronounced Ab-suh-dee. When I taught school I had a boy named Starchild in my class.

I worked in an Air Force military hospital and one of the doctor's names was Dr. Hole. When I first started there he was Capt. Hole, and then was promoted to Major Hole. He said that he came from a military family. His dad was formerly in the Navy and was once Seaman Hole!

My sister used to work in the corporate offices of a bank. Here are a few customer names:

and her personal favorite:

What were the parents thinking?

Okay - I'm going to get fired... I took a minute to check messages and got caught up in this thread! So I just had to add a few more to the list...

No kidding - these are all true - no urban legends, I promise...

I went to summer camp with a Daniel Blue Denim;
I had the pleasure of knowing a lovely city clerk by the name Gaye Mann;
My dentist's wife is also a practicing dentist, who kept her maiden name... Dr. Sandra Payne;
and finally - the poor gentlemen I did home health billing for whose parents named him Prenis Swallows!

As for the initials, too often we don't realize until after the fact how silly they are... Thankfully I caught my weird initials before I finalized my marriage certificate. My given name was Andrea Suzanne B*** and I married a lovely gentlemen with the last name Shelton - luckily a friend pointed out to me my initials, so I took my maiden name as my middle initial. Thought I'd rather be anti-lock brakes (ABS) as opposed to A-S-S... hehehe!

Love this thread!

My brother went to college with a wonderful young man named Welcome R. Friends. No joke. We called him Chip. He used to carry his BC with him - people wouldn't even take his credit card!!! (Now all his docs say Chip, not Welcome.)
