I use to work at an optometrist office. One of my jobs was to call in RX'x to the labs. One day I called in an RX for a patient, only to find that I had to make three phone calls to get the name out. I could not stop laughing. The man's name was Harry Bal****.

Also went to school with a boy named Stuart Stewart. He was a class clown. (With a name like that, you had better have a sense of humor). When I aksed him why his parents named him that, his response was "My mama drank and my daddy stuttered". That is the best response I have heard yet.

We currently have a set of 5 month old twins, we are fostering who very well might be able to be adopted by us. I truly thought of the names Jackson and Jillian, as names, calling one Jack and one Jillian (not liking Jill), but thought better of it.

My son used to have a doctor named Ronald McDonald.

We were the foster parents of these same twins when they were 2 weeks old. The mother refused to visit them. While we were visiting them everynight, the nurses and I were talking about weird names. These babies have very distinctive hispanic names, but are blonde hair and blue eyed. (Mom disn't realize who the father was, I guess).

Anyway, while we were visiting there was a couple who had just had a child and they named him "Seven Days Rest". NO joke.

I have a cousin who has two daughters, named Faith and Hope. She swears if she has another she is going to name her Love.

The worst part is that their first names are Billy-Hope Raylynn Z*** and Tommie-Faith Marie Z***

They will probably be called Tommie and Billy in school.

Talking Phonetically Spelled names *sigh*

the worst names i've come by are:
Curley Monroe --- for a boy, with straight black hair heh.
Samurel --misspelling on the BC
Lorali- Pronounced Laura Lie, got called Luralee

i dunno about you all, but i loath this new craze of taking old common names and sounding them out and spelling them wildly.
ex:
Amanda - Ahmenda
Katelyn- Cateline
Sarah - Sara, Sera, Sare, Sira, Serah, Sareh, Sirah,
Leslie- Lessli, Lesli, Lesley,
Jacob- Jaykobe
Laura - Lura, Lurah, Laurah
James- Jaymes
Michael- Mikale, Mykale
Cassandra- Kassandra, Cassandria
Christopher- Kristofer, Kristopher
Zachary- Zackary, Zakeree
Kevin- Kavon, Kevan, Kevyn

anyway, there's so many to list but these are what i can think of.
I know for a fact there are 5 variations of the name Sarah just in my son's 4th grade class. It makes me crazy. It's the same name no matter how you spell it, why make it hard on the teachers having to decipher these names? heh

Arrow Unfortunate name spelling

My cousin went to school with a boy named Sh*thead. His mother was only marginally literate. So when she wanted to name him Sha-th-eed (I don't know how to spell it either) that was the only way she could spell it. While it may be phonetically accurate, it didn't look nice written. Fortunately his kindergarten teacher was a wonderful person who volunteered to help the mother change it legally to a more preferred spelling.

Smile boy name

I know of a boy that was named River Blue. The mother was often teased that if she had a daughter they could name her Babbling Brook.

Talking bad names

I went to school with a guy named:
WAGON WILLS (Say it again, wagon wheels),
Did I mention I went to school in TX!

DH and I joke about the names Jingle or Dingle paired with the LINGLE last name! Not even the dogs are named that!

A dr at college health center was Dr. Looney.
And I dated a guy in college with the last name Carey, if we married I would be Kerry Carey! yikes.

This is such a fun thread.

While at the hospital where my son was born, my husband asked the nurses what the strangest names were. The winner was Meconium. The mother had heard ones of the nurses talk about the meconium and thought it was a beautiful name. There were also twins names lemonjello and orangejello.

My stepdad's name is LaVerne Smilie. I guess his parents did not like him too much. He goes by Vern.

Here are a few names. My mom worked with a woman who named her son Cole Funace. (my brother's name is Coleman and she liked it) My mom joked that she would name her last baby Noah Moore. My son's name is Noah, but I didn't use my maiden name.
There was a family I went to church with when I was growing up. The girls names were Ivy and Sunny Beach, the mom re-married a man who's last name was Stubbs.
I had a friend that had all girls in their family, they were all named by the time of year or the date of conception. Dawn, Fawn (hunting season), Windy (windy day), and Holly (she was born around Christmas.
True story, there was a man who was enlisting in the military, his name was R.B. Jones. On the aplication it askes for the full name so he decided to put R(only) B(only) Jones. The military listed him as Ronly Bonely Jones.

My orthodontist is 'Dr. Nurse'.

Also know of a Mary Christmas.

DH's last name is Hatt. (I kept my maiden name). He has a cousin named Michael, often shortened to Mike. Mike Hatt said fast sounds an awful lot like 'My Cat'.

Ok.....I had to add in my "two cents". I have two names.

In my early years, my mom was friends with a couple by the last name of Crow. They had a little girl. They named her.....are you ready for this.....Sky Erica Crow. That's right, Sky Crow.

About 20 years ago, my mom's ex-sil, Dee had a baby boy when Dee was in her middle 40's. Dee had a 19-year old daughter that was pregnant at the same time. Any way, Dee named her baby boy.....Theign Richard. Theign is pronounced "thing". No kidding!! I can hear the name calling now.....what's the usual nickname for Richard - D**k. What do boys call their "private" area - thing. Get it......? Poor kid.

Why don't some people think before they name their kid. You see, my dh and I have never been able to give birth nor have we ever been able to adopt. I truly think that God is blessing us by not having us make the "naming" decision!!!! You see, there is a positive for every negative!!
