Adult with PDD Seeking to Adopt
Hi,
I find lots of information on the web about advice for parents who have kids with autism, Asperger's, or PDD. Unfortunately, I do not see very much that is useful for adults with the above conditions. I was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS within the last year. It explains alot of the things that I found unexplainable when I was a kid. I am seriously considering adopting a child from the State foster care system. I have already gone through the classes and am beginning the homestudy process. Will the fact that I have PDD prohibit me from adopting a child? Are there resources available to adults on the autism spectrum that will help in the adoption process or with parenting generally? Roger |

Roger,
I am writing an article for Spectrum Magazine--a publication for parents of children with autism--on the adoption and foster care of children with autism--But I am very interested in hearing more about your story. I would love to hear your story. You may email me at hunyk@optonline.net. Thank you. |
