Alternatives to international adoption
Hi there,
We have considered adopting a child from overseas but we've just found out that Australia doesn't have an agreement with her country and we can't apply to adopt her. She is an older child (7) and we would like to bring her here to give her a family, an education and a chance at a better life. Can anyone offer any advice at all? |

I guess I would just call any and every government agency that works with adoptions and get all the info you can...find out if independent adoptions are allowed at all...and in her country. I'm sorry!

Thank you, I appreciate your post.
I know there's a way somehow, we just have to find it. Maybe a long term student visa and apply to adopt her once she's here. Who knows, I just have to keep digging. I am very new to this as we have been very lucky and had our biological family. I'm shocked and heart sad at the terrible waiting lists and delays that people who genuinely want to build a family must go through. The fact that there are so many children just desperate to be with them. I'm really quite stunned by it all. Last edited by chrysanthemumrose : 11-03-2009 at 03:40 AM. |
