The OT said this? As in occupational therapist or is there another kind of therapist who goes by the same abbreviation? I'm a school teacher and I am wondering if this was an occupational therapist like I'm thinking of, I'm wondering why they would say this. Where I'm from an OT works on fine and gross motor skills and is not involved in emotional issues. Does this person have experience with attachment issues so they are concerned based on their own experiences? To me, it seems odd that, if this is the kind of therapist I'm thinking of, that they would say this to you. I'm not saying it is true or isn't true, just that how that seems to fall outside of the realm of what an occupational therapist usually does. If you are wanting information on attachment issues there are lots of good sites online. One from a Christian perspective is Attaching Hearts . Another very generic but informative one is A4everFamily.org - HOME .

A lot of therapists (OT, PT, ST) work with children will a range of disorders, so it may be that this OT has patients with attachment disorders.
However, it would be inappropriate for this person to make the dx. Was the comment made as part of the conversation, like just an off handed remark? |
