Adoption

I have adopted 2 young children about 15 years ago. One of the children is 16 years and has reactive attachment disorder. Is there a way to place her back in foster care? She has destroyed 3 families including my own with my family. She steals things and makes a big story about why. she has lied by saying that we abused her, my nephew tried to have sex with her and also said that her father in arkansas had raped her. She has been put in Juvenile hall for these acts. She had gotten her father arrested more than 3 times in arkansas. At my age, I can't handle this child much longer when the other child, 17 years, is going into college this fall. Please help if you have any suggestions.
Sincerely,
A worn out parent

Dear Friend, please try posting this to the special needs forum. There will be a wealth of support and information for you there. I am afraid this forum doesn't get too much activity.

God bless you!

It depends on where you live is you can do this or not. You need an attorney. Here, one can file a petition for child in need of care.

Does she have a counelor? Wondering if there is enough of a paper trail to get her into a residential treatment program. Adoption subsidy covers that in many cases. Some states take custody for that, others you retain custody. It might be easier to go this route.

You might want to check out Welcome to Attachment & Trauma Network* - ATN They have a support list for parents who are living through what you are describing
