I was scearching this site and found your note. I think its wonderful what u have done, I am very proud of every mother and Father but it takes a very special person to want to take on a special needs child. You should be very proud of yourself and my god always be with you, for i do believe one day my drean of adopting a very special child will come along. may you always find that special smile inside of you. I HAVE 4 BIOLOGICAL CHILDREN 18,17,13,12, BUT MY HUBBY WHO IS ALOT YOUNGER THAN I AM DOES NOT HAVE ANY AND HE WANTS A CHILD OF HIS OWN. THIS IS GETTING VERY HARD FOR US. IN MAY OF 2000 WE STARTED TO ADOPT A BABY GIRL AND WE WERE SO EXCITED AND WE HAD HER FOR 1 MONTH AND THE MOTHER CAME BACK AND CHANGED HER MIND, HEARTBREAKING AS EVER AND NOW WE ARE SOMEWHAT SCARED TO TRY AGAIN. I KEEP LOOKING AND ASKING QUESTIONS, BUT STILL LEARY. LEXI THAT WAS THE BABY'S NAME WHICH THE MOTHER GAVE HER THAT NAME AND WE KEPT IT, SHE HAS SICKLE CELL. AND I KNEW WHEN THE MOTHER TOOK HER BACK THAT SHE COULD NOT AFFORD TO GET LEXI THE MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT SHE NEEDED TO HELP HER FEEL BETTER. I'M SORRY GUESS I JUST NEEDED TO TALK..... MY HEART AND BLESSING GOES OUT TO YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY AND HOPE ALL GOOD COMES YOUR WAY. TAKE CARE AND KEEP POSTING MESSAGES I'LL KEEP WATCHING FOR THEM.

I want to homeschool them but have to have two of them in school now and it is always a battle for their rights. This paragraph doesn't begin to share the struggles and thoughts in my heart I have about these guys!!

They are great kids and I get so angry and frustrated trying to get them the services they need to succeed in school! If anyone would like to chat you can post a message on this board or e-mail me at symom2six@yahoo.com thanks

special need kids

Hi guys,
We have 16 kids, 12 adopted, and most have special needs. We have Down Syndrome, Blind with CP, mixed developmental delays, receptive language disorder, alot of ADHD, CP, JRA, and plain old developmental delays, oh yeah, forgot Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I don't know how I could have forgotten that one, it's the hardest. We are thinking of home schooling the two more severly handicapped kids, because the school system has been a nightmare. We will probably get alot of trouble from the school system though. They will surely think we can't handle it because we have so many kids. We get that all the time, from everyone.
My e-mail address is ghousefull@aol.com if you want to contact me. I think I've had experience in just about everything.
