Crying non stop

our new F/A son will non stop cry for 3 or 4 hours stright every night sometime even longer. What can we do about this. We were just placed with him last month. I am a SAHM of him and our Bio DD who is 2. We do not have anyone to watch him so i can get away for a few min or anything like that. My father was our back up babysitter and he passed away this past Feb. What can i do to help sooth him. We have tried walking, swing, changing of seen, paci, bottle, bouncy, put him in his crib for a little bit and a few other things i cant think of off the top of my head at the moment and nothing seams to be working.

Help!!

How old is he? Could he be colicky? My daughter became colic at about 6-8 weeks and would cry for hours at night at about the same time. Nothing would sooth her. I changed her bottles and formula and added some holistic things. It can be a very trying time when you can't figure out was is wrong.

My dd screamed for hours and the only thing that helped was to wear her in a carrier. I would put her in it and twist the top half of my body from side to side instead of the rocking motion. It calmed her most of the time. SHe eventually liked really hard rocking in a tight hold. Soft rocking or swinging did not help. I hope your little on is at least sleeping b/c I thought I would go insane from lack of sleep.

One thing that worked with my god-daughter, was the vaccuum cleaner. She had colic bad, and her mom had switched formula and tried everything and was worn out (she had to work full time) so I came over and one thing I found was that the vacuum soothed her. After that they would turn it on and lean it on the bassinette. Something about either the sound or the vibrations or both did wonders. My younger son had to be almost hot to sleep, so we put his bassinette in the bathroom where we could turn the heat up till he fell asleep. Some kids like being tightly swaddled. Good luck, it's so frustrating when you are tired too.

Have you tried putting him in bed with you? At 4 months the only way our daughter would sleep was curled up right next to me

i let him come to bed with me at 5:30 when he gets up then. I cant let him do it any other time as i cant sleep with anyone in bed so i would be geting no sleep at all instead of broken up sleep.

We tried the valume and that did not work, i had remembered doing that with my little brother ( i am 15 years older them him) and it worked for him but not our son.

((((hugs)))) Have you talked with the pediatrician? Ear infections can really hurt when you lie down, perhaps it's a formula problem or reflux. Have you tried swaddling? A warm bath and lotion massage? Sometimes putting them on their tummy across your lap will help them calm down and then turn them on their back to sleep once calm. I hope you find your solution soon, sleep deprivation is miserable!

Lets see, here is everything I can think of.
Swaddling, gas drops, changing formula (maybe to soy, some kids when the are allergic get bad stomach pains that are worse at night), a check up for ear infections, asking if he was exposed to drugs (a baby I used to watch was and she did not sleep well at all), noise in the room (a fan works for some or a radio, but others need more, the drug exposed baby I watched needed to think she wasn't alone and so slept with the tv turned on to children's shows or something soothing she needed the voices and the movement to comfort her when she woke up, which was often)
Changing where the baby sleeps, try the porta crib, some babies prefer a harder surface, a room with more light or less light. Etc. You have probably tried most of this already, oh and also some toys for babies vibrate, that might help too. I know I sometimes took the vibrating thing from the bouncy seat and put it in the bed with the baby (kind of wedged it into a corner so it vibrated the mattress a little)

Suggestion..

My adopted son was drug exposed. We tried everything listed above. Finally I learned about Amby Baby hammock bed and a few months later broke down and bought one (almost the price of a crib). We were so desparate we would have paid a lot more by then. But it worked although he took a few days to get used to it. They have a website. Google them. We bought the set that had everything including a conversion to a jumper that we use now that he is older. And for the first few weeks we swaddled him snuggly in the Amby too.

I think this might be something from "back in the day", but I have heard people talking of having put their baby on top of the dryer. In a seat of course. Have you tried giving him tylenol?
