abilify

Has anyone been prescribed the drug "abilify" for their rad child? E's psychiatrist is trying it to deal with his aggression issues. Thanks!

My son is on Abilify and Serqouel. We can not get over the difference in him. We waited such a long time to go the medication route, we were scared to, didn't really like the idea either. However we didn't have a choice really. It was either try the medication or have him baker acted by orders of the doctor. So we choose the medication. He is almost 5.

That's the same age as E. It seems to be making him tired, but most definitely he is less aggressive! Thanks for the post.

Abilify

My daughter was on Respirdal when she was younger, then weaned off. She is having problems in adolescence now and was put on abilify, but had a reaction. She was switched back to Respirdal, but now is having the same reaction. Just watch for ticks and twitches, that is what she developed.

My 9 year old son is on it now and has been for about a year. It does have a weight gain side effect. I didn't see it until he went up to 10 mg. Since school started he has gone thru 3 sizes of clothes - he is pudgy but not obese. He was on many meds before that mostly for ADHD and he is RAD. They did not work. Risperdahl made him very aggressive.

I think it is important to remember to watch your child because a med might work for your child but not the next one even though they may look the same.
just my experience
