any support in New York City?

I've recently relocated in New York City and am looking for some support for my newly adopted 7yr old daughter diagnosed with RAD.

Can anyone suggest potential therapists, parent support groups, or simply other parents dealing with these issues in NYC? We've looked for therapists on the attach website and came up with nothing. A search of more traditional therapists isn't fairing much better....

If you will email me area codes within driving distance for you, I'll see what we can find. Also, I can offer listserves comprised solely of parents with attachment-challenged kids, and as the lists grow, folks are starting to connect in person in different geographical locations. Plus being a part of the lists will help keep you informed about what the Attachment Disorder Network is doing... and we just had a fabulous conference which provided networking opportunities for parents from all over the country.

There is support out there.. email me and we will plug you in.

Hi there... We are in the process of adopting a little girl who was diagnosed with RAD... I had no idea it was going to be sooo hard for her to bond with our family. I am married to a wonderful guy and my mom lives with us... (instant family... I did not realize the extent of this diagnoses... She just turned 7yrs old in March. We had her since end of January and our adoption date is scheduled for late Aug... She has been with us for 6 months now... Everytime we think we've made some progress in the area of attachment but then it's seems we have'nt touched the surface of RAD.... She has been exibiting some really bad behavior lately relating to hitting others, hitting my husband and myself... acting as if it's no big deal... with no remorse for her actions... It's so hard to understand why she can't see we love her and only want the best for her... I read some of the book "when love is not enough" but I clearly need to reference it again and read it page by page to truly understand what's going on with her... I'm feeling so helpless...
