Healing from Attachment Disorder

Just some general questions regarding attachment disorder...

Can attachment disorder go away as one gets older?

Does having a child help someone heal from attachment disorder, because, after all, a child can never "divorce you" and always has an attachment to you?

Why is "regular" therapy not helpful in dealing with attachment disorder?
