We are also working with Arise. We finished the classes, are finishing up the paperwork, and have had the first visit with the caseworker. She estimates we'll be ready to go by the end of August, with a child possibly in October. We want to do straight adoption. Susan

Foster
We got a call on Friday saying we were licensed, and could we please do emergency receiving for some little ones. We said yes, but were convinced to do so because we thought the kids were closer to being available for adoption. Now, Monday, we're not so sure. We had hoped to do straight adoption, and are worried that we will invest our love in them, and not only lose them after up to a year, but also miss out on other children available for adoption.

Looking for Foster Home
The three kids are still with us. They are going to be going back home, but not for quite awhile. Our socialworker is looking for children for us, but is hesitant to place any in our home while these three are there. The kids' case manager is looking for a long-term foster home to move them to. I'm still wondering why they placed these kids in our home when they knew we wanted to adopt. I can only assume we were brand new and they took advantage of us because it was late on a Friday afternoon and they needed someplace to put them.
