Five weeks ago I registered through the Arizona Confidential Intermediary Program to find my daughter who was born in 1985. Thank God I did it just before the State of Arizona changed the legal searching age from 18 to 21. Anyway, after 18 very long years of searching, I finally found her!
I cannot believe this is happening! While I haven't spoken with my daughter as of yet, I plan to sometime early next week. And if I'm very lucky, I'll have met her sometime before the end of October 2003! In all my years of searching, I occasionally came across an add that stated that a mother had finally found her child. While I was genuinely happy for these women and their children, I couldn't help but to feel such a powerful sense of sadness. I hope I haven't caused that same sense of sadness with any mom who is still searching for her baby. If I have, I am so sorry. To all those moms who are looking, please, don't ever give up hope. I know always wondered, "Did she ever think of me or miss me?" or, "Did she look like me?" I now know the answer to both of those are YES! For instance, I just found out that my daughter Cammie has slept with a picture of me under her pillow for the past sixteen years and I hear she looks just like me. There is hope out there! They think of us, they love us and they miss us dearly. Sometimes, they even look like us! Good luck to everyone out there who is searching. My prayers are with you all.

First of all, let me say what a beautiful woman you are! I just love that picture of you. In fact, every time I sign in to this page, I am always drawn to it for some reason.
My daughter currently lives in Texas and has for some time now. She's eighteen years old and thankfully, has had a wonderful life and was apparently privileged by any standards. However, she says that her adoption left an enormous void in her life and she wants to begin (or get back) a mother-daughter relationship. I do consider myself quite blessed that she doesn't want to do this long distance. We've spoken for a month and a half now though still don't know each other very well. I am not only aware but scared of what could go wrong in this new relationship. All I can do is hope for the best and accept the worst if it may happen. (fingers crossed) In the meantime, I'm absolutely thrilled! I'm also thrilled that her adoptive parents are being 100% supportive. That helps out quite a bit. I am still trying to absorb all of this! Since I never had any other children, I don't suppose I have to say what kind of trip it is to hear someone call me mom. Oh but I do love the sound of it! I have missed her so much. I can't believe I am getting her for Thanksgiving, Christmas and her birthday! What have I done to deserve this? I feel like I'm going to wake up and all of this will have been a dream. I'm sorry I rambled on and on here. I just don't know if I should laugh or cry! So apparently, I'm doing both. I wish all of you so much luck in your searches. I just know you'll find your loved ones so please don't ever give up hope. PS. If I can ask, who are you looking for Sharon?

"PS. If I can ask, who are you looking for Sharon?"
I'm not really looking for anyone anymore. I am a birthmother who found my son last summer. His aparents told me he's not ready for contact at this time; so now, I'm just waiting. Reading stories like yours, however, gives me hope that I might have a relationship with my son someday. ![]() Best wishes, ~ Shar |
