I have a question: If both parents are convicted of 2 counts of felony id theft
Hello,
I have a brother who was recently arrested on 2 felony counts of id theft. Ok his wife has yet to be arrested because, she knew about the crime, and I have a certain feeling helped him spend whatever monies they recieved while committing these crimes. They have a 1 1/2 year old. My question to this forum: If both parents get convicted explain to me the step by step process concerning the baby. If/when the state of Georgia steps in on the baby, do the parents have a say in where the child goes, with no written court order expressing thier wishes. If I the aunt decides to adopt the baby explain the procedures for me, are there income limits?, and age limits? |

You might check out the below link for more information on termination of parental rights in Georgia.
Felony convictions of a non-abusive/physical crime doesn't always result in jail time or the sentence might be a short one, so adoption might not be an answer/issue. Maybe a temporary guardianship instead? I'd contact an attorney in your area before proceeding. http://library.adoption.com/Terminat...le/8454/1.html
