Adoption Agencies in Edmonton

Hi, I am just starting to decide which agency I should use in Edmonton. Has anyone used one there and if so which one.

I know there are two and I've talked to them both and I liked one better then the other on the phone. There was Adoption by Choice and Adoption Options. I really didn't care for my reception from Adoption by Choice. Has anyone else felt the same???

There is also Catholic Social Services, and a few others in the yellow pages. For my DH and I , we decided to go to Adoption and recruitment aka, Gov. adoption. We have been matched in less than 2 months. Keeping 'child desired' open helps. Money played a factor in a little, but mostly, it's the 'open adoption' we needed to seriously think about. that and you may never get chosen as it's up to bmom. In the end, Gov adoption worked out best for us.

Let me know how things are going?

Hi Melon,
Just saw your post re: adoption agencies in Edmonton. Not sure if you are a potential birthparent or a potential adoptive parent. My name is Tara and I'm a birthmom, placed my son Thomas almost 5 years ago in a very open adoption. I used Adoption Options (Calgary office) and would recommend them to ANYONE! Anyways, you can contact me at taramayrn@yahoo.ca if you have any questions. Also check out Adoption Options' website at www.adoptionoptions.com

Good luck,
Tara

HI Stacey. We are also from Alberta and used ABC in Calgary.I was the exact opposite and prefered ABC over AO.I liked that they were more personal and you get to submit a photo album rather than just a few pages for bmom to look at.Good luck!

ABC

Just wanted to add about Adoption By Choice--we think they are great. Everyone we have met through ABC has been so warm and caring. Their focus has been on getting us through the process in a painless way. We love these people!! If you are in Edmonton, take the time to meet with Sheila. I think you will be as impressed as we were. We attended the seminar in Calgary and met Carol and Janet as well, and we thought they were great.

Good luck!
