I am looking for my older brother who was given away for adoption at birth, his name at birth was phillip james, but was most likely changed after the adoption took place, the birth and adoption was at the grande prairie regional hospital. He was born with darker toned skin and brown eyes, his father was half metis, if you have any info at all, please send me a message.
Thank you! josie |

search for brother
Hi
Hopefully, you have applied with Alberta Post Adoption registry - for the non-identifying information regarding his adoptive situation and as well to register yourself there in the case he registers their as well in the passive registry. If you need assistance on how to do this, let me know. ~Shannon |

So now i am doing things like this, and hoping he, or someone he may know will see it, i thought about a search company but i am going to wait first, and see if these things work. But thank you for you offers to help!

brother
Josie,
Alberta laws are expected to change this year sometime, although I am not certain, perhaps they might divulge adoptees names to birthparents if and when they open the records. It would be worth finding out about. I haven't had time to review the new Act to see what all is happening, here is a link to the Act, don't know how many answers it will have http://www.assembly.ab.ca/pro/bills/...SelectBill=024 In BC the records are open, but only between birthparent and adoptees - I don't believe it's open between siblings --- and they charge something like $50, which I suppose isn't too bad. Perhaps they might charge that type of amount in Alberta. Since you have the non-id, which is a great source to start with, you could go about the search on your own, although it is difficult to find an adoptee, it's not impossible, it just takes research and time. Let me know if you need any pointers, I would be glad to help ~Shannon |

thanks!
wow thanks, i had no idea they are doing this, even if it is only open to birth parents, thats ok, me and my mom are doing this together. ive come a long ways since i first started looking, i had no idea what to do at all, i still dont know where to start looking to do my own search, and the companies are expensive, so even if we had to pay$50 thats not bad at all. Thank you so much for your help, i really appreciate it!
