My husband and I are getting our documents ready for our homestudy. Can someone tell me what we need? I know we need a copy of our marriage license and a background check. Do we need copies of our bank statement, W2, or last year’s income tax return? Anything else, I want to have everything ready when I send in my application. Thanks in advance for your help.

Talk to whomever is going to conduct your homestudy. THEY need to instruct you on the documentation to prepare. Some things are standard and others vary by state and if it's international or domestic. You could get lots of information from people here however it won't be specific to your exact situation. Really, if you want the right information, you do need to ask the people who will being doing your homestudy.

I definitely plan on talking to the people who will be doing my home study. I'm the type of person who likes "needs" to have things done ahead of time. It drives my husband crazy, as he is more of a procrastinator. I guess that kind of balances us out.

Every state has a different requirement, so they would definately need to tell you what you need. Just have all your pertinent documentation ready.
