AA Dolls

It can be such a challenge to find appropiate African-American dolls, but recently I hit on gold!

Amazon.com: Corolle Les Cheries Doll Cécile - 13" Doll: Toys & Games

This doll is even more beautiful in person than on the picture. She's so stylish and I LOVE her hair. It's hard to tell on the picture but her hair is full of little spiral curl ringlets... much like DD's after getting it washed. On the pic, the doll's skin tone doesn't look at realistic as it does in person... very rich and natural coloring.

In a pinch I bought this doll (below) for DD a while back...

Amazon.com: Madame Alexander My Little Girl Style Me Pretty African-American, 14 Inch: Toys & Games

It's fine, but I wanted something that represented my DD's beauty more realistically.

I'm waiting to buy this one... it went up $30 in a matter of days... I figure it can come down just as quickly. So it's on standby...

Amazon.com: Madame Alexander Girlz 18" African American Doll: Toys & Games

Lakeshore had a selection of ethnic dolls - that were very "tough" because they were meant to be used in classrooms.

Target has a good selection online...not in the store.

They have a category for ethnic dolls.

My Toys R Us only has ethnic dolls at Christmas. The rest of the year they are hard to come by unless we order online. I stock up my gift closet at Christmas and then to have something to give to her throughout the year. DD's dolls hair is always a hot mess. She says she knows how to braid. That's not the way it looks to me especially when she's "braided" my hair.

I just love DDs hair combing sessions.. ouch. lol

I have the styling head, Kayla, and another toddler doll in my stash too. Yesterday, I went to a TRU in another town, and got DD the Loving Family doll house, Black family included.

A styling head, where did you snag that? I never find good stuff at my Target... guess I can venture into TRU. But would love an online site.

Certain parts of town have more of a selection than others. Somebody called me on the weekend and said to check out Kmart. I'll have to go to Cartersville for my closet Kmart.

Nick
I feel you on the hair combing sessions. Ouch! And DD has the nerve to say I'm doing something wrong for it to hurt when she's combing it. Do not use a rat tail comb on my hair if you don't know how to use it little girl! LOL

Yes, I just visited there... all they had were Barbie heads. We live in a "Barbie-free" zone...

DD loved the doll house and the family. One of the moms hair is already "restyled".

Was not looking for it, but I found the Princesses Tiana doll at K-mart.

That doll is so cute! Thanks for the link. Did anyone see the book at the bottom of that page? It's a new version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It has an AA girl in it. Looks cute! It had great reviews because in the end the bears help Goldilocks clean up before she leaves. I love that Goldilocks is black. I'm getting that one!

The Corolle dolls are some of the best - just beautiful, and very "authentic". I have one waiting to give to my dauthter at Christmas, and it looks just like her!

I recently found a great doll at Wal-Mart. She's one of those American Girl knock-offs. She is prettier than the one at Target. Even though my little one is only just turning 1, I bought it for when she is about 3. Good AA dolls are hard to find!
