I guess I should introduce myself...
DH and I are an African American couple working with an agency in the hopes of adopting a black or biracial child (domestically). We have a 2 year old bio daughter, I'm a SAHM and we've been married for 13 years and change. We are both 36 years old.
We became "active" and available to be matched during the holidays. I believe that we have been presented to expectant parents 4 times in 5 weeks (or is it 5 times in 4 weeks :P) but not yet chosen. The latest situation that we have been presented in involves twins (!) whose due date is 3/31. Our counselor keeps telling me that its a great thing that we are getting so many opportunities to be presented (DH agrees). To me it feels like I'm on some horrible rollercoaster ride. That's a lot of rejection in such a short amount of time! Anyhow, I'm glad to be here! |

Hang in there. The journey can be a challange, but very worth it in the end, like Nick*Chris said. You will find a lot of support here.

Welcome!
Yes, it is a rollercoaster.
Adoption can move fast for AA families. We became official in December and were matched in January. The mom decided to parent and now a month later we're matched again. You'll find a lot of support from us all! Welcome and best of luck on your adoption journey!![]() |

It is a rollercoaster ride but don't let the situations that didn't work out bother you. I would try to stick with baby born situations if possible... with so many situations being presented it's best totry not to tie yourself up for months.
Good luck! |

Welcom
I echo the others, it's quite a ride but well worth it. Imagine in four or five years when your baby/babies are bigger and out of the blue they come up with something like, "Mommy, I love you." My heart just melts when my DD does this and she always knows when I need it most. Hang in there everyone here is very helpful. My prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear about your failed match but how wonderful that you are matched again only a month later. What a whirlwind. Good luck, BTW ![]() |

Thanks for the advice. One of the great things about the agency we're working with is that they don't let expectant moms pick waiting families until they are at least in their 7th month so that cuts down the waiting time considerably. I don't think I have the constitution to accept situations where the eMom is only in her 1st or early 2nd trimester, LOL! |

Tell me about it--I got pg with DD after having a 1st trimester miscarriage and a 2nd trimester stillbirth (22 weeks). I feel so lucky to have her while we are waiting to add to our family. She's a flesh and blood reminder to keep pushing on until things work themselves out ![]() Thanks for your warm welcome! |
