Seeking Info on Bi-racial Adoption
My DH, who is CC, and I (black) are hoping to adopt a bi-racial baby. We live in the Virginia in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. We are new to the US and finding that seeking information on this is quite overwhelming. We would really appreciate any information particularly on what agencies people have used and their experiences of the process.
Can residents of Virginia use agencies from any state or are they obliged to only use agencies within the state. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Please PM me at lucy_annvacher@hotmail.com Many thanks. Last edited by ladyjanegray : 09-01-2007 at 08:51 PM. |

Once you have your homestudy done locally, if you prefer you can be represented by a local agency, or you can go through an out of state agency. If the child is born in another state, then the procedure will be tailored, per both states needs legally. You will learn about ICPC in that case. Be sure to research, and see if the company is an agency or facilitator. Some states has restrictions on facilitators, and I believe Virginia is one.
Best wishes.. Last edited by nickchris : 09-05-2007 at 07:26 AM. |
