Marketing yourself...

What kinds of things have you all done to market yourselves and let as many people as possible know that you are interested in adopting? For the time being, we are hoping to keep the search in our home state (VA), but I want to be sure that I am doing enough. Thanks!

I have heard of people dropping off cards at doc offices and sending them to hospital social workers and nurses. I have also heard of dropping off cards with your contact info to pregnancy clinics.

We went the agency route, so we did not have to "market" ourselves.

Good luck! Hope you are matched soon!

You typically don't have to market yourself for AA/biracial adoptions. The agencies and eparents are already looking for you. I know a few folks who have been rushed through the process because a baby was already waiting or due within a couple of weeks.

If you are signing with an agency just let them do all the work and your wait shouldn't be long at all. Our baby was already waiting for us when we finished the paperwork.

A lawyer told me about the marketing strategies, did not care for them. I am not too sure where you are, but If you are in the Northern VA area, it may be a quicker wait too. Your agency may have a connection(s) with other agencies as well. hang tight, it will happen.

I'm seconding and thirding what everyone said. While some of my white friends looking to adopt white infants have to do marketing in addition to what their agency does, I have not seen that to be necessary with minority children.

Are you doing agency adoption or lawyer adoption?
