Skin color

My daughter seems to be getting lighte and then darker during our winter months. Is this 'normal'?

My African American sons certainly get much lighter during the winter ... and tan very easily and quite dark all summer.

I cant imagine why a child would get DARKER in the winter unless its because their skin is maybe dry and thus appearing to be a different tone?

Its normal for skin color to change. Just by having melanin makes it possible.

But darker in winter? Does the child have eczema? that can show up or get worst during cold winter months and cause skin irriation and darkening.

How old is your daughter? If she's a newborn or still in the early stages of 'babydom'.......her 'coloring at birth'.....would not be the coloring as she got/gets older. Thus, if she was born in the Fall, and you're thinking that the 'winter months' are what are bringing on the skin change, it's more likely that her skin tones are 'coming of their own now', and the lovely darkness you see, is what she has become.

Sincerely,

Linny
