Wow, I like his movies, but that is really disappointing. I've been impressed with The Rock for being proud of who he is and who his family is (AA/Samoan) |

The Rock is my man. If anything ever happens to DH I'm looking him up.
I saw an interview with The Rock's parents and they raised him to be proud of who he is. They've done a really good job. |

Then there is the other scenario . . . someone like Mariah Carey who entered the scene seemingly downplaying or hiding from her "ethnicity." I recall seeing a TV interview done very early in her career in which they showed bits of her personal life. She talked about (and the interviewer talked to) her family, her close friends and her now ex-husband. I believe, they were all frolicking in her huge mansion in New York somewhere. She was very pop-ish at the time. Then it became evident that AA's were a huge fan base for her (no hiding from us, we can pick you in a crowd ), and the next thing I knew she was on the cover of my Essence magazine with an article saying something like she was "a misunderstood black woman." Now she seems to surround herself with the hip-hopsters, while keeping just enough "pop" in her to keep everybody happy.Kelli P.S. Sleeplvr, the rock is MY MAN!!!! I recently rented the movie Be Cool with him and John Travolta. I saw a whole new side to MY MAN!!!!

It's gonna get ugly if any of you move in on 'my Rock'
MMMM love that man.My best friend growing up is Samoan & most of the rest of her family is AA/Samoan. I think I was in love with every one of her uncles as some point during teenagerhood ![]()

I think it could be a nationwide epidemic....Women brawlin' over the Rock.
Maybe we could pay per view it Cuz I'm thinking that whoever comes out on top may not be looking their best, so unfortunately the Rock may take a pass - might as well get some cash as a consolation prize.

I thought it was hilarious that his character sang that song in the movie. He is not going to lose any of his fans by playing that role. I think he's gained some new ones. Ladies I'm ready to fight over that man. He's the kind of man that will have you end up in the mental ward or jail. They would probably get me for stalking. I'll be driving down his street every day and peeping in the windows. ![]() Last edited by Sleeplvr : 10-21-2005 at 02:17 PM. Reason: spelling |

I hear that it's not just women ready to fight over the Rock (not my type). There are a number of guys who think he's totally delicious too. This fight could get ugly. My money's on kelli so far-she talks like she's ready to win
(takin' the earrings off- that's a serious black girl ready to defend her man! ).and mariah, poor girl. she really plays that "tragic mulatto" stereotype-she really need some therapy (and years of it).

Ladies!
We're all friends here. I'm disappointed that you would resort to threats of violence to resolve any issues. Shame on all of you. Besides, The Rock is MY MAN! Didn't you all get the memo? Kelli, I nearly fell out when you mentioned breaking out the vaseline. Reminds me of my wilder days. Must be the name. Although my husband's favorite was the time I told him, "If that girl walks by grinning at you even ONE more time, she's gonna make me take my hair off and get to work!" I guess you can take the girl out the ghetto... well, you know the rest. Kelli

I am LOL right now! Boy that reminds me of my misspent youth! Don't forget to put you hair up really tight and the nail lacquer!! Now back to the topic at hand LADIES! LADIES! there is a whole lot of man there. I am sure we could come to an understanding, a sort of "time-share" plan. I mean with our dhs and kids we are busy ladies and couldn't fully "appreciate" his "charms" But if we were limited to lets say a 48 hour period every 2 months or so I am sure when would know exactly how to use the time effectively. We start the sign up right here. I would like the first and second of November. lisa |

. . . and I'll take the rest of November. If this is an epidemic, consider me infected! Though I have to admit, I like the Rock now that he's a little less bulky than in his wrestling days. If the time share thing doesn't leave enough for everyone, there is an alternative. DH informed me that the Rock has a cousin who is his body double and does a bunch of stunt stuff . . . then DH started chuckling and saying, "Dear, dear, can I bring you a glass of water? Baby? Are you ok? . . . " ![]() |

Well, this all explains why Doom was the number one movie this weekend despite getting terrible reviews.
I'm w/ Lisa, The Rock doesn't do it for me. I like my men less clean cut and more dangerous.

LMAO Lisa's probably right, what would the Rock want with a bunch of raggedy women, all tore up and covered in vaseline
(the mental image is hilarious)Sign me up for that time share ! I think I would pass out if I saw Rock X 2 -- I didn't know about the cousin ![]()
