AA dolls

As we prepare for the arrival of my beautiful AA/CC beauty we are trying to introduce my niece to oher colours of children. In case I deploy due to the military the baby will e in my sister's care. I bought her a AA baby doll and she LOVES the baby "Jade". Well I thought for her birthday I would get her a AA baby doll with hair. Well I am stationed in Montana and NO dolls to be found ANYWHERE!!! So does anyone have a website I could find some? She has different nationality Barbie's already so I was hoping for another baby doll. HELP

My daughter loves her pretty brown cabbage patch doll because it's life size (wears newborn size clothing which we change frequently), and has a ton of hair that she can play with. They do have a home website where you can purchase one, but I don't think we're allowed to post links to retail sites. The name of the dolls are cabbagepatchkids and it's a dot com website (hint, hint) You might be able to also find one at Walmart's website too. I know they carry them in their stores.

Best wishes,

Kelli

Thank you so much for the info!!! I am so excited that my sister and her family are teaching their kids about other cultures, colours and enviroments!! I will try the Walmart in Billings and see if they have some -- I couldn't find them here.

Did you find a cabbage patch doll or something else? My daughter absolutely LOVES playing with dolls. As a matter of fact when I came home from work this evening it was such a funny sight to see my dh and my dd spread out on the floor playing with dolls. I overheard her asking him if he "changed the baby" as I was entering the room. I teasingly asked him if he ever imagined playing with dolls and having tea parties. He's a sports kind of guy, one that you would picture tossing baseballs/basketballs around the yard. He's already started teaching her how to throw and dribble, but she's more of a "girly girl" for now and can hardly go anywhere without a doll in tow.

Glad you found something you like.

Best wishes,

Kelli

Dd has an Addy from American Girl. But, she's 6. Though, I would guess that their modern American girl dolls are made similiar to Addy and I know they cost a bit less. Addy actually belonged to ME and dd had her sights set on my doll and waited until she could sucker me out of her. My Addy was actually pre-matel, so I don't know the quality of the dolls now. But, I can tell you that I had to plait Addy's hair. It was the only way that Dd could do anything with it and not leave it so knotted that I would need to chop it off! Now that its plaited, dd can style it however she likes and it handles her 'care' just fine.

I have also found that in our area, Toys R Us seems to have more diversity in doll selections than Wal-mart ever does. So, if you can't find anything suitable at Wal-mart, try Toys R Us.

My boys are AA and are also really into dolls - but all we could find at Walmart and Target were black Barbie dolls - unfortunately, the boys were quite interested in the "upper" part of Barbie's anatomy so that had to STOP.

I did find two black GI Joe's at Kmart - months apart - it seems they only order 1 at a time - so that helped.

But what they really wanted were black baby dolls, and not to offend anybody - but personally I think those Cabbage Patch dolls are freaky-looking! So I looked at Toys R Us in Minneapolis and found some nice black baby dolls...but again, some of them were just butt-ugly! The bodies and faces were really disproportionate on some of them - or had nasty hair - made them look scary - but Fisher Price makes one with a soft body and little pink outfit that is really cute. I bought one for each of the boys.

Good luck!

Sandy

you might check out Hearthsong on the web. Also a catalogue. They have a lot of dolls/toys of different races, cultures etc.

Also a great place for a more unique type of toy or gift...
