Waiting Impatiently for A MATCH

How r u all doing? I have been waiting almost 2 month.I guess our profile hasn't been shown yet cause we haven't heard from SW.I told her we are open to placement in a different state thinking that would speed up the process. But haven't had any luck yet. So, where r u all in the process.I keep hearing about all the AA that are unmatched, yet I dont have a match.I guess Im getting impatient. It seems like we've been waiting forever.I feel very selfish knowing that there are people who have waited much longer that what I am crying about.

It'll come - there are lots of AA babies and mixed race babies out there. What were your other requirements - were you open to other races, any drug exposure etc? That can also impact how frequently you get "shown" You can also network withother agencies in your area - that's how I found our baby. I guess I wouldn't sit idly by - your baby is out there. Best of luck!

hi,

the waiting stinks, doesn't it? We adopted using our agency in CA and a facilitator to speed up the process. Our agency here said it would take 6months to a year to place AA in our home (both AA parents). Our facilitator sped up the process by networking all over the US. The problem w/our agency is that they did not search nationwide, but waited to hear of things or have women contact them directly. We chose not to wait and pay the extra money ($ 4800) to have a placement take place quickly. It worked for us: we adopted our daughter 5 weeks after our homestudy was completed. I think there are a number of things that can slow things down: agency inaction, restrictions on aparents part (gender, age, health, race), bmoms (they decide what they like and it can really have nothing to do with you, just whatever appeals to them), and assorted other things. In addition, after they show your profile to bmoms, bmoms can take their time deciding. Our facilitator only called after we had been chosen by a bmom, so we had no updates in those 4 weeks (excruciating, so I sympathize!). Anyway, you might want to contact your social worker and discuss what's happening-I agree with martha, be proactive!

good luck,

LisaCA

The Waiting is the worst! My wife and I went with an agency in California and never got a match. So she started contacting other agencies and facilitators and in doing so we did get matched a few time. 3 failed and the final one went through! It costs more money but you do get really good results.

I realize this is an old thread but...

since someone posted, I will jump in.

I have been officially waiting since the end of June. I am interested in an AA or bi-racial child 0-2. Going through the state so I am not necessarily expecting a short wait. I'm trying to convince myself that If I got pregnant in late June I wouldn't deliver until March-April 2007. Meaning, I'm going to try hard to not get anxious until then.

Meanwhile, I'm fostering a toddler so that's keeping me busy. My personal timeline....wait to be matched by the state until April 2007 OR my FS returns home. If it doesn't happen by then...private agency for me- Adoptions from the Heart or Golden Cradle.

Anyone else waiting?
