My daughter is 23 months. I adopted her at birth. My problem is that she has these little bumps that look like acne all around her hair line. I know about the bumps some people get from having their hair pulled too tight and that is not what these are from. They seem to get better when I rinse her hair more often and they are worse if her scalp is dry. They are not going away and I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this condition. Someone suggested it might be a form of craddle cap, and she did have this when she was a baby but this does not look the same. Can anyone help?

Hello
I'm AA AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU OILS HER SCALP. BUT SOMETIME THEY ARE JUST HAIR BUMPS THAT NEED TO BE POP I GET THE SOMETIME AT THE BASE OF THE NECKLINE AND SOMETIME IN MY HEAD ON THE SCALP. I GUESS IT'S JUST COMMON AND THE HAIR CAN'T BREAK THRU SO ITS CAUSE BUMPS. TRY POPPING THEM AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS .GOOD LUCK THEY DO HURT THOU, SO YOU MAY WANT TO TRY POPPING THEM WHEN YOU WASH THE HEAD SO IT WON'T HURT AS BAD. W,
YEs, I do oil her scalp and that has helped. Thank you for your reply. I will try that tonight after her bath. K |

Hi Kecho, I am not sure if what you are seeing are clogged pores, but in my daughter's case, I am pretty sure they appeared prior to new hair growth. She had/and occasionally still has them, mostly around her hairline. When she was an infant and early toddler, she wore headbands often (the stretchy ones); they looked so cute but after regular use we began to notice that it rubbed her hair out just around her ears, back of her hairline and in the front. All of that hair grew back over the last year and it was alway preceded by small white bumps. She lost all of her hair at about 6 months; we noticed these bumps as it slowly grew back.
Not sure what products you use. We have had much success with Burt's Bees Apricot oil and Burt's Bees Avocado butter; both are natural, no mineral oil, plant based products with no chemical additives. We tried many things before we settled on this regimen. Good luck! |

Your daughter may just have sensitive skin. I agree with Redhedded; no products with chemical additives! Also, if her head is irritated from styling, you might give it a nice brushing and let it "air out" for a day... Works wonders on my third child's hair! Her own natural scalp oils can get to her hair easier.
