Welcome to the forums, and to the exciting (and sometimes frustrating) adventure of adoption. We are here, just waiting to share with you, laugh with you, cry with you. support you and grow with you. Please keep us posted as your adventure unfolds.

hi and welcome!

dh and I are waiting for a match, hoping it comes in the next couple of weeks. We are waiting to see what the adventure holds for us as well. We live in Southern CA, in our early forties, and waiting to adopt our first (boy or girl). We do have a large family of four-footed family members (three cats, two rabbits and a hamster) but can't wait to add small humans to the mix!

good luck and tell us more about yourself,

Lisa CA

Welcome to the next rollercoaster! Adoption can be a wild ride but in the end it is worth it. We have done it 4 times now (well three since the little one still has to be finalized) each one differnt and each one special.

Hi, everybody. Thanks for responding.

Thanks to everyone for responding. My husband and I are playing the waiting game now. We have all of the completed paperwork done now and are waiting to be matched up. I thought I had a closed adoption, but I found out from this forum that my agency only does semi-open. I was upset at first, but I'm okay now. I've had two almost placements of little boys, but at the last minute was told I could not adopt them. Long stories. Anyone ever feel like you are bidding on a piece of meat?

OMG! we had contact with a lawyer who was soooo slimy, that we decided we couldn't take the child because we'd have to work with this guy. He's well known all over southern california and is apparently a good lawyer, but he made this seem like a financial transaction only- if we had the cash, we could get a kid-ick! That's not the adoption we want, so we ran from him. our facilitator and the agency both understood that the guy had "issues", so they're not sending us his way again. Creepy...

sorry about the almost placements- keep the faith, it will happen!

WELCOME! We have 2 bio children & 3 adopted children. We are a CC couple with AA & Biracial adopted children. Our "journey" began Feb. 2000. We adopted our first daughter in May 2000, our 2nd daughter in July 2002 & our third child, a son, in September 2003. Our bio children are a daughter 16 (YIKES...Too many hormones in the house!!!) & our son is 14.

It's a roller coaster journey, filled with so many emotions & adventures. In the end, it's ALL worth it!!

Keep us informed & updated!!

GOOD LUCK!

Deb

WELCOME!

I love this place! You will learn so much from this board even if you find that you dont have a response to post.

My dh and are just begining our homestudy! I talked to our Agency today, we to get our finger printing done, and then we will be setting our first home visit with the social worker.
