Smile baby names poll

Hi everyone,
Even if you've already got children, what are some of your favorite baby names? Feel free to post male or female names and if you know the meaning feel free to post that as well.

I like: male
Tor
Henry
Tyson
Micah

female:
Ella
Noka
Kiana
Mia
Malia
Nia

I must like female names that end in "a"

We named our biracial baby girl Mia Celeste which is Italian and Latin meaing "My Star".

I love Mia and Nia as well. And Micah for a boy. A very strong vibrant name.

My son's name is Dexter David. Another good strong name, I think.

P.S. I wanted my baby girl to have a strong yet feminine name. A modern girl name, if you will. She's not a Jennifer or Ashley, you know?

The name "Nicole" (which just so happens to be my own ) means "Victory." My parent's chose this name because, after waiting for a baby for so long, they felt victorious. I may be partial, but I think it's appropiate.

Nicole is a very pretty name. I have a dear friend going back to kindergarten named Nicole. Conjurs up very positive connotations for me.

It's all in the name. My name is Lisa. My best friend in high school's name was Lisa. Her dorky brother used to make jokes, if you want to see a cute girl, just yell HEY LISA really loud at a party. He was a jerk but he had a point.

There were 5 Lisas in my kindergarten class of 18 kids. What does that tell ya?

When we had our first daughter Chelsea, we picked it because we heard it on a movie. Crazy I know. Then we had Cody a couple years later. When we were expecting Chelsea, Cody was the boy name we had chosen. Well, 3 days before we had Cody Kathy Lee Gifford had her son CODY. I can not tell you how many times I heard, "Oh, like Kathy Lee Gifford!" NOOOOO, like I've had the name for a few years and a few years ago it was WEIRD to people. LOL

10 years after we had Cody & years of Unexplained Secondaty Infertility & treatments, blah, blah, blah...we adopted. In deciding on a name for our baby our son Cody came up with this explanation of why the name had to begin with a "C". He said that his name & Chelsea's name begin with a "C". We were adopting either a Biracial or African American baby. If we didn't stay with the "C"'s the new baby would feel left out of the family. This is my sweet 10 year old son's sincere caring heart!! Sooooo, we now have Cylie (Kylie), Cirrah (Kira), Carly & Caleb.
Our adopted children's middle names are part of their Birth Mom. Cylie Elizabeth, Elizabeth is her Birth Mom's middle name, Cirrah Emani (Emani means to have faith) is the name her Birth Mom gave her. We were matched so quickly we didn't have a name for her by the time her Birth mom was discharged so she name her. We loved it & kept it for her middle name. Would have kept it as her first name, but had the "C" thing going! LOL Carly is a girl we have guardianship of...her name fits right in! Caleb Noah Nicholas is named after his Birth Mom Nicole. Noah is from "Miracles happen to those who believe". Noah's Ark.

IF we ever adopt again I'd like Camryn for a girl & Caden for a boy.

Deb

I'm a cc mom of an aa daughter. We wanted to pick a name that would reflect her aa and jewish hertiages. Her name is Aliyah (means spiritual ascent in hebrew and arabic). we also like Mikaylah for a girl and Isaiah and Jeremiah for boys.

Hubby and I will be adopting full AA child and have picked out the following

For a girl, we like:
Tia Renee or
Melanee Renee

For a boy, we like:
Cordell (haven't figured out the middle name)
Hubby had a 14 year old brother who died a couple years ago(the sweetest angel in heaven today) who was named Sylvester. I, personally, love that name with Cordell. But, I heard nothing but negative comments from full grown friends of mine. I can imagine what kind of cruel things children may say to my unborn son. So, I think we'll come up with something else for the middle name. I'm going to remember this thread because I really like the names you guys are coming up with. Keep 'em coming.

Well.....I'm not one to tell the names of my children on line.....but I'd be thrilled to tell you the names I really liked, that we didn't choose----for the seven we DO have! LOL!

Girls:

Melaney (pronounced, Me-LA-nee)
Kemah (means, against the wind)
Keturah (almost used this one....one of Abraham's wives in the Bible) (pronounced, Ke-TUR-ah )

Boys:
Gideon (came sooo close to using this-- then we had a 'failed situation')
Ian (I like this name, as someone else already did too!)

Sheridan (though I wonder if anyone would have called him 'Sheri'......(( not so good )) )

Simon

Sincerely,

Linny

After much debate my wife and I finally agreed to name our son Franklin Leroy. Franklin came from the comic strip penuts and Leroy was a family middle name.

If we had a girl it would have been Catlin Jean.

I was so hoping to name our son Horatio but my wife shot it down hard.
